Passport Requirements and Recommendations
Are you planning to travel abroad in the near future? If so, you will need a passport that is valid for a minimum of six months after your anticipated date of return to the United States.
We also highly recommend confirming that your emergency contact person also has a valid passport, in case they need to travel abroad to support you for a medical emergency requiring an extended stay in the hospital.
You can apply for a new passport or renew your existing one at Texas Global! The Passport Services office is an authorized U.S. passport acceptance facility offering appointment-based services to the public, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Visit Passport Services at Texas Global for more information.
Insurance and Emergency Assistance
Did you know that all UT Austin students and employees are enrolled in overseas insurance and emergency assistance coverage through On Call International?
This service provides emergency travel benefits to allow your emergency contact person to join you in cases when hospitalization is required for more than 24 hours. Learn more about this policy by visiting the Global Risk and Safety webpage for Overseas Insurance.
If you have any questions or concerns about upcoming international travel, please contact the Texas Global Risk and Safety team at grs@austin.utexas.edu.
